Start by following the signposts and hiking trail markings along a forest path which turns into an attractive hiking trail after 3 km, which passes through Bukovac and Smrekovac, picturesque and pristine areas of the national park. Hiking this somewhat uncultivated and narrow trail, you will pass by the Vučja jama, Klupica and Stara Lugarnica sites. The section from Smrekovci to the lodge is also called Moravčeva staza, named after a duke’s senior forester from the forestry of Bijela Vodica near Crni Lug, who is the reason why the trail was constructed for hiking back in 1899. The trail will take you to the lodge, where you can continue your hike to the very top – the Veliki Risnjak peak at an elevation of 1528 m.
